Helping to Equip the New Home for STREAT

During June and July, Social enterprise STREAT is running a crowdfunding campaign to complete its new café.
The Home STREAT Home campaign, which is hoping to raise $100,000 by mid-July, has already raised over $60,000 with the help of a Community Grant from Gandel Foundation that matched dollar-for-dollar the first $30,000 of donations.
Donors can click here to pledge a dollar amount, or buy rewards such as fine dining vouchers, free coffee for a month or an invite to the space’s opening night party.

Home STREAT Home is STREAT’s new site in Collingwood. With business and philanthropic support, It is on track to open in September, but it needs your support to put the finishing touches on the café, gardens and youth spaces to ensure they’re ready for business.
Home STREAT Home will feature a new artisan bakery, coffee roastery, function space and youth training academy.
It will triple the size of its business operations and provide training and employment assistance for 365 young people each year.
Most importantly it will be a ‘home away from home’ for young people – a place to themselves, be safe and belong.
Every single night 44,000 young Australians have no place to call home. The majority are desperately looking for work, but without the necessary skills and experience they’re destined for long-term unemployment.
STREAT is dedicated to preventing youth homelessness by providing hospitality training and employment programs for disadvantaged young people and supporting them through the tough personal issues they face along the way.
Since 2010 they have supported 450 young people and most have gone on to pursue careers in hospitality and retail as well as further education.
